"Episode 1: Welcome To Life's Storm"

Life doesn't hand out do-overs, but it does offer moments of stillness — a quiet center you can return to, even in the middle of the storm. In this episode, Joe Knuppel opens the door to that quiet center, welcoming listeners into a space built for honesty without the polish. He reflects on the weight of fifty years of mistakes, some of which reshaped how he sees himself, and gently makes the case that being flawed isn't a disqualifier from a meaningful life — it's the price of being human. Life doesn't hand out do-overs, but it does offer moments of stillness — a quiet center you can return to, even in the middle of the storm. He reflects on the weight of fifty years of mistakes, some of which reshaped how he sees himself, and gently makes the case that being flawed isn't a disqualifier from a meaningful life — it's the price of being human. There's no comeback story wrapped in a bow here, just an invitation to stop running from the past and start asking, quietly and honestly, "where do we go from here?" If you've ever wondered whether it's too late to rebuild, this episode is a calm, steady reminder that it isn't.

My name is Joe Newple, and welcome to the Eye of the Hurricane podcast. You know, I created this platform because maybe you, similar to me, question a lot about life in general and don't necessarily have a safe place to be honest about it. You know, unfiltered honesty really is not something that most people are comfortable sharing, and other people aren't really comfortable hearing it either. So you can consider this your safe space, no matter who you are or how you arrived here. I just appreciate you being here. So I can tell you personally, I have made a ton of mistakes in my 50 years. Some of those I couldn't take back. Strangely enough, I feel like I've aged far faster than I planned. And there are times that I've looked in the mirror some mornings at a guy that I didn't even fully recognize. So this podcast isn't a comeback story with a bow on it. It's really about the eye of the hurricane. And that's really the quiet part amidst all of life's chaos. It's kind of where we stop running from what we did or we didn't do back in the day or what should or shouldn't have been, you know, all those things that aren't fair. And instead we decide to do a 180 and we start figuring out where do we go from here? So if you're past 50 and it feels like life has already handed down its verdict, I'm just telling you what, you're not too late, you're not too broken, you're not too far gone. All of that is a lie. So being flawed, it's not some kind of disqualifier from your life. It really is like the price of admission for just being a human being. And trust me when I say, I know what it's like to make your own life difficult. You know, there's a lot of times where we think the people around us have it all together, and we think that we're the ones that are just super screwed up. When the truth of the matter is, all of us have got our issues. Uh, and sometimes knowing that, it does make you feel a little bit better and a whole lot more normal. So keep in mind, no one's ever lived a life that was worthwhile that didn't include some very dark and trying chapters in that story. So this podcast is gonna be no polish. It's not gonna be about pretending. It's just what it actually looks like to rebuild when time isn't necessarily on your side anymore. And you don't have it all figured out like you thought that you did back in your 20s and your 30s. Because the truth of the matter is none of us really do. So we're gonna tackle real issues one-on-one. We're gonna have an occasional guest speaker, but I want to tell you, I wholeheartedly believe no matter how many mistakes we made or how empty we felt at times, there's a path to make it the last chapters of our lives the very best ones in the book. So you can expect pure vulnerability and honesty. And over time, over time, I really hope you find this place to be a soft place to land and also a place where you can totally relaunch your life. So, welcome to the Eye The Hurricane, where together we're gonna find that calm.
